Billy's Last Game

The pasta dinner turned out to be lots of fun! :) Dan, Garrett, Brooke, Buck, Nathan, Seth, Millie, Gracie, and Kevin showed up a little after 4:30pm.  We all ate and talked until about 5:20, and then we drove to Leavitt.

When we got to Leavitt, we found a place at the bleachers and then stood there for awhile because the seats were wet. Erin, Mr. Doughty, and Shannon met us there. Billy, Ben, Christian, and Brandon got special recognition because they were seniors. I took pictures of them but Shannon has the computer with the memory card reader. Maybe I can post them in tomorrow's post.

The game was very rainy and intense! Billy's team lost 3-2 though. :( I had a really fun time with my soccer team. Shannon and I both agreed that they are all really funny. :D

Tonight my team plays against Coastal. They're the best team in the league. We're third best. Normally, I wouldn't be too worried but Dan (our best offense player/top scorer) sprained his ankle so I don't think he's going to play at all. :( The exciting part is that we get to play against Sean and Josh. :) After the game, we're having Sean and his parents over for supper. Today is also Mr. and Mrs. Hughes' anniversary so I'm feeling really honored that they're coming to our house for supper. :D

Pasta Dinner Tonight!

Tonight I am having my soccer team over for a pasta dinner! It should be fun. :) So far I think there are five guys (Buck, Dan, Garret, Nathan, and Seth) coming, maybe two girls (Cassidy and Gabby) and another guy (Brandon). Millie, Grace, and Kevin are coming too. :) After the pasta dinner we are all going to head over to Leavitt and watch Billy's last high school soccer game. It's going to be really awesome! Billy's whole team is going to have mohawks, I believe. :D Last night I shaved Billy's hair so he could have a mohawk. I'll be taking pictures of his game tonight so there should be pictures posted tomorrow. :)

This morning I made pumpkin waffles for breakfast! They were pretty good except the ginger was a little strong.

Tumbledown Hike!

Yesterday morning, our friend Michael picked Billy and I up and then we picked up Kyle at his house, met the Crawfords at their house, and then we followed them to the Kidd's house. Once we picked up the Kidd's we drove to Mt. Blue State park because Tumbledown Mountain is right near Mt. Blue.

Me, Gracie, Millie, Connor, Mrs. Crawford, Billy, Michael, and Kyle before the hike. Photo credit goes to some friendly stranger.

The mountain was beautiful and very colorful! God sure is an amazing artist.
So much color!

Snack and water break! From left to right it's Kyle, Billy, Michael, me, Connor, Gracie, and Millie.

Towards the beginning of the hike, Kyle, Michael, Billy and I moved a little faster than everyone else and kept getting ahead. So, Mrs. Crawford had us pair up with a "slower" person so we could help them out if they needed it and so we would stay together better. I paired up with Gracie. :)

We ate lunch just below the tree line. It began to rain/sleet as we were finishing lunch so that made things pretty cold! The rain didn't last long though. :)

Lunch time! Me, Kyle, Gracie, Billy, Millie, and Connor.

One of my favorite parts of Tumbledown was "squeezing" through Fat Man's Misery. Fat Man's Misery (some people call it Fat Man's Squeeze) is a little cave you have to crawl through in order to continue on the trail.

Michael, me, and Connor is in the shadows on the right. This is the entrance to Fat Man's Misery.

The other end of the view from Fat Man's Misery. Michael took this picture for Mrs. Crawford.

Once we got to the top of the mountain we had a nice break with snacks and water. Just as we started to walk down to the pond (there's a pond on the top of the mountain) it began to snow. It only snowed for a few seconds but it was really cool (literally)!
The view from the top.

Beautiful view, huh?
We took an easier trail down the mountain. After getting permission from Mrs. Crawford, Billy, Michael and I hiked down the mountain at our pace (a much faster pace) so we could get to the bottom sooner and walk a mile on a dirt road to get to the cars. It was really fun to go down the mountain at a fast pace. Once we got to the cars, Michael drove us back to where we expected Mrs. Crawford, Connor, Kyle, Millie, and Grace to come out. While we waited, we talked to some fellow hikers for a bit as we stretched. After awhile, we discovered that they came out of woods slightly farther up the road than we expected. We drove up and picked up Mrs. Crawford and brought her to where her car was parked (A mile down the road) so she could get her car and we could leave. Millie rode with Michael, Billy and I while Mrs. Crawford, Connor, Gracie, and Kyle rode in the other car.

On our way home we listened to a bunch of music on Michael's iPad. We all stopped at Dunkin Donuts for hot chocolate or coffee and donuts. I burnt my tongue with my hot chocolate. :/ We were going to drop the Kidd's off at their house but nobody was home so we waited and listened to music while we waited to find out where the rest of the Kidd's were. Mrs. Crawford ended up bringing the Kidd's to the Root Cellar and Kyle back home. Michael brought Billy and I home and stayed for supper. :) It was a faaaantastic day!

I believe all the photo credit belongs to Mrs. Crawford unless said otherwise.

Soccer Pictures and No Ice Cream

I found out right before we got our soccer pictures taken that Caleb (one of my team mates) is home schooled too! I thought that was pretty cool. :) For the team picture, I was in the back row! :) I'm usually too short to be in the back row but I wasn't this time. Gabby and I were the only girls tall enough to be in the back row. Just as Mom and I started to drive away from the school, it began to rain. Perfect timing for the pictures, maybe?

Last night, after Bible study we all hung out for awhile and then drove to Sundaes. We were going to treat Pastor Per to ice cream for his birthday but Sundaes was closed! :( We thought it closed at 9pm but it closed at 8pm that night. Oh well. :/ It's the thought that counts, I guess.

Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies

Last Sunday I made Pumpkin Chocolate Chip cookies. I must admit that they were really delicious! I wish I had made more. Billy said that they could use a little less chocolate. So, if you aren't super fond of chocolate, I'd recommend doing a half cup less of the chocolate chips than it calls for.

Today, I have to go to CMCA and get my soccer pictures taken. Should be pretty fun!

Rag Curls

I wasn't going anywhere last night because I didn't have to babysit so I decided to do rag curls on myself. Let me explain what rag curls are in a few simple steps.
  1. Get hair damp all over and put some gel or mousse through your hair. Or after a shower, let your hair dry until it's about 50% dry.
  2. Section of the top 2/3 of your hair (near the ear) and start with your bottom layer.
  3. Grab a rag that's about 3 inches long and 1/2 an inch to 1 inch wide and grab a section of hair about an inch to two inches thick and tie the rag around that section, slide it down as far as you can with out having the hair fall out of the knot.
  4. Roll up the hair around the knot until you get to the scalp and then tie it off.
  5. Continue to roll all your hair around the rag until you've gotten all your hair in rags.
  6. Spray with hairspray.
  7. Go to sleep. When you wake up in the morning, spray your hair with hairspray one more time, let it dry and then untie the knots and take the rags out.
You should end up with very springy curls. They aren't the prettiest curls in the world but I still like them. I put my hair in a side ponytail and it looked nice!

My curls in a side ponytail.

I took them out of the ponytail.

Kind of messy but fun. The left side of my hair straightened out a little because it was in side ponytail.

A Rainy but Delightful Sunday!

Yesterday, after church, we were supposed to have a church picnic and then play Flag Football but it was really rainy so we cancelled it. :/ Instead, we had Mr. Doughty, Mrs. Doughty, Erin, Matthew, and Millie over for a late lunch. We had a really good time. :) While the parents talked for awhile, we all played Dutch Blitz. They left around 4:30pm or so.

We skyped with Abbey for a bit and then we went to Dairy Joy with Pastor Per, Mrs. Almquist, Kyle, Jason, and Scottie. :) I got soft serve pumpkin ice cream. SO good! :) When we finished eating our ice cream, we walked back to the Almquist's house and hung and and talked for a bit. :) 'Twas a lovely evening.

Last Saturday night, at Sedgley Place, there was a wedding so it was really hectic in the kitchen. Corrie and I worked inside, in the restaurant, until there was only a couple people eating, and then we went outside and helped bus tables at the wedding with the other Hostesses.
