Sock Bun

Tonight Millie and Sean are spending the night here because we're driving them to Fawnwander! :D I'm so excited! It's going to be a blast!

Last night I got my hair damp and then put my hair into a sock bun.

I know, it looks really silly!
Wearing a sock bun overnight is supposed to give you curly hair...But it just gave me a few waves and extra volume. I already have plenty of volume in my hair.

I'm thinking of making my sock donut thing smaller and doing two next time to get curls.

This is a good tutorial on how to do a sock bun.

That's Maine for Yah!

Do you realize in the past week we have had beautiful, sunny, 80 degree weather, rainy weather, snow, sleet and extreme winds? We pretty much had all four seasons packed into one week. Maine always has us on our toes... Well, not really, but still.

My newly created updo.
Yesterday, I posted a picture very similar to this one. This updo is almost exactly the same except it's neater and I only used one bobby pin (not counting the bobby pin holding the flower in place). The French fishtail braid is really growing on me. :)

The other day I was on Pinterest and I saw this Circle Skirt Tutorial. It looks awesome! I really want to buy some pretty fabric now and make tons of skirts.

Babysitting Estes

Last Sunday evening Mr. Estes and Kenan dropped off Linnea, Diana and Martin here for a sleepover. The Estes had us babysit them while Mrs. Estes and Joel visited a college, Nick had class, Mr. Estes and Kenan worked, and Catherine was at another friend's house.

After almost everyone was ready for bed Catherine and Nick skyped with us to say goodnight to their siblings. We all went to bed soon after the skype call.

Monday morning we had cereal for breakfast. After breakfast Diana, Linnea and I played Sequence. I won! :) Martin, Diana, Linnea and I watched Madagascar. Martin LOVES that movie! During the movie I curled Diana and most of Linnea's hair. When we finished the movie we had lunch. After lunch Martin took and nap and Diana attempted to take one but read a book instead.

While Martin napped Diana and Linnea played Spit and then we played Stress. I baked some cookies for a snack. Martin woke up soon after the cookies were done. To pass the time while the cookies cooled, we went for a quick walk. It was a VERY quick walk because it was SUPER windy. Martin said, "It's too freezing for me.". He's so cute!

When we got back from the walk we each ate a cookie and drank some hot chocolate.

I decided to take a group picture of us because I thought it would look cute.

Right after I finished uploading this picture (and a few other pictures) our power went out. I wasn't suprised because it was super duper windy! Turns out that a huge tree on our road fell over and knocked down some electric wires and slightly bent over a telephone pole.
Diana, Linnea and I played a couple rounds of Stress again.
Martin wanted to play Hide and Go Seek and so we all played Hide and Go Seek. It was sort of Hide and Go Seek in the dark because the power was out. Once we got tired of Hide and Go Seek, I taught them how to play Skip-bo. Linnea won!

When Dad went to go pick up Billy from Track practice he brought home some pizza for supper since we couldn't really make anything for supper. After we finished eating supper, Linnea, Diana, and Martin packed up and got ready to leave. When Mr. Estes and Kenan arrived we quickly put their stuff in their vehicle, said our goodbyes and they left.

Almost as soon as they left, Shannon and I left to go to Tim and Angie's house so I could go to Angie's Jamberry Nail party. That was really neat!

This is a sample that I tried on. I still have it on and probably will for the next two weeks.
Yesterday, I learned from a video how to French Fishtail braid my hair. I still have to practice it a bit more to get it tight. Whats nice about this braid is that if it's loose it still looks pretty.

Here's a picture of an updo I made up with the fishtail braid.
All I did was separate my hair as if I were doing a half up half down hairdo, tied off the bottom half of the hair, and French Fishtail braided the top section. Once I finished the braid I put the hair on bottom into a loose bun that was started almost half way down my hair, tucked the bun in and pinned it in place. I used bobby pins to get any droopy areas. It's hard to explain how I did the hairdo but it really wasn't that hard.

Here's the video I learned how to French Fishtail Braid from.

Homeschoolers Unite!

Last Thursday afternoon Billy, Mom, Dad and I left for the Homeschool Convention. We got there kind of late and missed all of Thursday's sessions. Billy and I got to see Caleb (a friend from Deerwander) briefly. Since the convention was over for the day, Billy and I hung out in the hotel room and played Dutch Blitz. I won! After awhile I mainly browsed on Pinterest and Billy played on his iPhone. Dad let us order pizza from Domino's. That was yummy and cool! You can build your own pizza on the website and then they'll deliver right to your hotel room! I liked it because I didn't have to do anything over the phone. :)

The sunrise Friday morning.

Friday morning, Billy and I worked out in Samoset's gym. Around 9am we went downstairs for the convention. I can't remember exactly all the sessions and which ones were when but for the lunch break we went outside and played monkey in the middle with the frisbee with Anna, Naomi, Elisha, Caleb, Ben, and a guy named Joel. It was REALLY windy so it was hard to predict where the frisbee was going to go after you threw it. Some people decided to go inside after awhile so Anna, Billy, Caleb, Elisha and I went for a walk on the breakwater. Anna and I stopped about half way so Anna could eat her sandwich. Billy, Caleb and Elisha kept going until they got to the lighthouse. Because it was SO windy the waves splashed onto the breakwater. It was pretty cool!

Elisha, Billy and Caleb. Not sure what Billy is doing here.

It's a rock!

The loooong breakwater.

When we got back inside the resort Caleb went to a seminar but we weren't interested in any of the seminars so Anna, Billy, Elisha and I did 10 pushups for a Peppermint Pattie at the ALERT table. By the time we finished eating them a lady at another table talked to us about a book. She gave Elisha and I a free book and Billy a MP3 of a story about a missionary. Us four went and played Dutch Blitz and Nines until the next seminar.

We went out to KFC for supper with the Simmlers. :) That was fun!

After supper Anna went to the graduation (I wish I could have gone because I knew two people who were graduating) and Elisha, Caleb, their family, and my family went to the How Big Is God seminar by the 4th Day Alliance. THAT. WAS. AMAZING! We bought the presentation, it was that good. Our God is incomprehensibly HUGE!

Saturday morning we learned about Tracy Klicka and her husband, Chris, who passed away and what a huge impact he made for the homeschoolers of Maine. We also learned from an author part of the story of Donn Fendler who was lost on Mt. Katahdin for 9 days when he was 12 years old. It was a miracle that he survived.

Around lunch time Nick, Joel, Kenan, Rebecca, and Mr. Stuart showed up for lunch. Sarah, Ben, Elisha, Breanna, Billy and I hung out with them while they ate. When they finished eating we hung out for a bit. Elisabeth and Rebecca went for a walk so Elisha, Billy, Kenan, Nick, Joel, Mr. Stuart and I looked for them for a bit. Joel, Nick, Kenan, and Mr. Stuart found them, I believe. We all decided to go for a walk on the breakwater. Rebecca and Elisabeth went inside so Elisabeth could give her bag to her Dad for the walk. Nick, Joel, Billy, Elisha, Mr. Stuart, Kenan and I didn't really feel like waiting so we started on the walk. By the time we got to the light house Rebecca and Elisabeth just started walking on the breakwater so we decided to start walking back. Nick and I ran part of the way. :)

Kenan and Mr. Stuart leading the walk on the breakwater.

Nick, Billy, Joel, and Elisha.

Kenan and Mr. Stuart at the light house.

When we got off of the breakwater, we walked back to Mr. Stuart's car and Kenan pulled out some delicious homemade scones for a snack. :) After we were finished eating them, Billy, Elisha and I said goodbye and quickly went back inside the resort to listen to the last seminar. It was a seminar by 4th Day Alliance on Comets.

When that session was over Caleb, Elisha, Samuel (another Reed boy) helped Billy and I pack up the backdrop. They had to leave before we finished so we said our goodbyes. While we waited for Dad to finish with video stuff Jessica, Elisabeth, Billy and I talked for awhile.

When Billy, Mom, Dad and I were ready to go we headed over to the Hughes house for supper. That was fun! Sean showed us his truck that he fixed up and gave us a quick ride around the block. For supper, we had really yummy lasagna that Mrs. Hughes made and delicious bread that Mr. Hughes made. For dessert we had a splendid homemade raspberry pie (made by Mr. and Mrs. Hughes) and vanilla ice cream. It was a very good visit filled with lots of laughs!

Huge Heat Wave

Today it's supposed to be even warmer than yesterday! It'll probably get to around 80 degrees. Tomorrow is supposed to be even warmer, then on Friday it's supposed to get back down to the 60s, and then on Saturday it's supposed to get down to the 50s and possible snow! The Maine forecast is never boring. :)

Last night I wanted to try a certain method on curling all my hair. It turned out really pretty! I didn't put any hairspray in my hair so they curls drooped down pretty fast. I woke up this morning with a little curl still left in my ends though!
Here's a picture of the curls tousled and headband of mine with a pretty pin pinned to it.
I sectioned my hair into for parts; the left side, right side, top, and back of the head. I curled the back first, and I sectioned that section into two sections. For the sides I curled away from my face and I did the curls closest the back first. For the top I sectioned it off about two or three times because I wanted to make these curls the prettiest because they would be seen the most. After each curl I tried to pin the curl (still coiled up) to my head or close to my head so the curl could cool curled and not droop. I couldn't pin them very well at times.

Lets Make It Up does a really good tutorial on how to curl hair. :)

Dandy March Weather!

The past few days have been really beautiful outside! Last Sunday it got up to almost 80 degrees! Yesterday morning was so nice that I decided to do most of my school outside at the picnic table. :) I ended up doing all of yesterday's schoolwork done outside, except my blog, of course. I think I'm going to do my Geometry and History outside today. Homeschooling is stinkin' awesome!

This morning, Shannon let me do her hair. I did the same hairdo I did on myself yesterday, but she didn't want any loose hair so I just put all her hair into the fishtail braid. It was rather messy but she said she still liked it. :) It's hard to do tight hairdos on her because her hair is really thick and straight. I wish I got a picture of it but she had to go in town.

Sunburn in March?

Yesterday was a BEAUTIFUL day! The temperature reached almost 80 degrees at one point. After church, some of us teens talked outside because it was so nice out. When almost everyone left the church we decided to go out for ice cream with the Kidd family and Pastor Per and his family. Pastor Per drove some of us to his house and then we walked down to Dairy Treat and met the rest of the group there. It was rather busy so it took us awhile to get our ice creams. I got a hot fudge milkshake, so pretty much a chocolate milkshake.

When we were all finished Dad, Calvin, Shannon, Billy and I went home and quickly changed into athletic clothes, grabbed a sandwich, picked up Pastor Per and Kyle at their house and drove to an athletics field in Topsham. There we met Anna, Emily, Josh, Mr. Simmler, Adam, Parker, and like five other people from Cornerstone to play Ultimate! I had SO much fun! We played for over two hours. It. Was. Awesome! I'm rather sore and a little sunburned today though. Ultimate frisbee is so worth it though!

Today I tried out a new hairdo! I need to practice it a bit more but, I like the messy look.
The front.

The back.

I got the hairdo from LetsMakeItUp.
